Fibonacci Gauge

I originally saw this at the magazine's site. I loved it and so did Ron Lancaster. Try making a Geometer's Sketchpad sketch of the gauge.

From the cross-published site:

Great stuff - I am going to make one!

I have used the Golden Rectangle/Mean for many years in designing furniture and organizing rooms etc but never thought of creating a simple gauge. Now I wonder if I can be precise enough.

I used to use a movie (yes, 16mm - how quaint!) in my early days called Donald in Mathmagic Land. It was great and included all this stuff. Since it was animation it would probably be still useable today I bet and of course the character is still amusing. It was done in 1959 and contains quite a lot of great Math starting points. It is now available on DVD.

I have published instructions for a construction of the gauge using Sketchpad.

Found an interesting application of the golden ratio at this page - the Amen break.
